Questions about Choose Love's work and partners
What is Choose Love? What does Choose Love do?
Choose Love CIO is a registered charity in England and Wales (no 1177927). In the USA, Choose Love, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organisation.
Choose Love operates through allocating grants to grassroots organisations working on the ground with displaced people. We believe that grassroots and refugee led organisations are better placed to know what refugees and displaced people actually need and how to deliver this.
We raise funds and pass on this funding directly to our partner organisations to get essential supplies and services to displaced people. We strive to be as transparent as possible about how funds are used and are grateful to all who hold us and other charities accountable - our financial accounts and impact reports are published annually and are available here.
Can you help me?
We’re so sorry but unfortunately Choose Love is not able to help individuals. We are a small grant-making organisation without the capacity to respond to personal needs. Instead, our approach is to support local organisations who are best placed to respond to individual circumstances.
Therefore, we suggest that you contact an agency or NGO that directly supports refugees, asylum seekers or displaced persons local to you, or reach out to UNHCR if they are present in the region you are in. You can see our partner organisations supporting displaced people here.
LGBTQ+ SUPPORT:
We partner organisations providing support for displaced people, including individuals displaced or at risk of being displaced because of their gender identity or sexuality.
If you feel unsafe because of your sexuality, we strongly recommend you contact local authorities if it is safe to do so.
In extreme cases we may be able to signpost services but we are not in a position to provide financial or psychological support to individuals.
My organisation supports displaced people and would like to partner with Choose Love - how can I go about this?
Unfortunately, we are not currently accepting unsolicited requests for funding. You may contact us but we do not have capacity to support every organisation that reaches out. Please contact us on contact@choose.love
Can I donate clothes and material items to you/displaced people?
Unfortunately we do not collect physical donations in the UK ourselves as we are a small team with no UK warehouse.
You can find out where to donate items by getting in touch with our partners listed here: https://chooselove.org/donate-goods/
How do I know my donation is not going to end up in the wrong hands?
Every partner we work with is carefully vetted to make sure all money donated is used to help displaced people in line with the humanitarian principles. We have rigorous due diligence processes in place to ensure that partners uphold humanitarian standards, align with our values, and respond to context-specific risks. This also includes screening our partners against relevant sanctions and terrorism lists from the US and UK. We do not fund any political organisations and are ourselves, a strictly humanitarian organisation.
If a lot of people buy the same item from our shop and we have an urgent need for other items, we will seek to even things up to provide the full range of vital services our projects need. (For example, many people may buy the baby bundle at a time when our partners are in need of funds for hot food.) This means that in rare cases, some of your donation could be used for a different item or service. Whatever happens, we promise that 100% of your purchase will be used to fund aid for refugees and displaced people.
If aid to Gaza is blocked - how are you funding humanitarian work there?
Choose Love is partnering with a wide variety of organisations on the ground in Gaza. Some run activities like mental health and psychosocial support, or child friendly activities - for which we cover staffing costs and these are not dependent on the borders opening.
For partners running food distributions and medical programmes - it is imperative that the blockade on aid is lifted. However, we must not wait until the block is lifted in order to get funding to them. Funding now means that they can procure life-saving items and prepare trucks for the moment the blockade is lifted.
Questions about my donation
I want to cancel/change my subscription?
Please get in touch with us at contact@choose.love and let us know if you’d like to cancel your recurring donation or amend it in any way. It’s helpful if you do this before cancelling or amending via your bank. Please don’t send us any credit card details by email.
I want to buy an item as a gift. Is this possible?
Yes! Whether you’re shopping for your Secret Santa, best friend or in-laws, give a gift that really matters.
In the Choose Love shop, online or in store, you can buy any item, supply or service in the name of your loved one, and let them know with an e-card, or a real card from our stores.
Our items make the best gifts any time of the year!
I have a question about my e-card
Our e-cards sometimes get caught in spam filters. If it hasn’t arrived, ask the recipient to check their spam folder.
If this does not solve the issue or if you have a different query relating to e-cards, please send your query to contact@choose.love
I'm having trouble with checkout. Can you help?
Our checkout offers Visa and Mastercard checkout and PayPal. If you are having problems with your PayPal account, please contact their technical support or checkout using a credit or debit card. If you’re having any other issues, please email us at contact@choose.love
What is the Choose Love shop? How does it work?
The Choose Love store sells items for donation. When you purchase an item such as Hot Food, Clean Water, or Keep a Child Safe, the money you spend goes directly to organisations providing those items or services for vulnerable displaced people most in need.
We work with lots of grassroots and refugee led organisations who know and have told us what items and services are most essential so every item for sale in our shop is truly making an impact.
I can't choose an item from the shop, can I just make a donation instead?
Absolutely. Please donate here. Thank you so much!
I ran a fundraising event for Choose Love - how do I get this money to you?
Thank you so much for raising money for displaced people! You can either make your donation online or you can reach out to community@choose.love for alternative ways to send us the donation.
Either way we’d love to hear from you about what you did, how it went, and if you have any pictures you’d like us to share with our wider community!
What is gift aid and how does it work?
Donating through Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra. You must be a UK taxpayer to qualify for gift aid.
For more information on gift aid, send us a message at contact@choose.love or see: https://www.gov.uk/donating-to-charity/gift-aid
When I donate or buy an item from the shop, how is my money used?
Take a look at our impact page here for our annual impact reports and financial accounts for info on how we use donated funds.
If you have donated to a specific campaign, 100% of your donation will go to partners working in that region or specialised area.
If you have bought an item in the Choose Love shop, 100% of the cost will be spent on providing that item to displaced people in need.

If you have an issue relating to an order placed through Everpress, please get in touch with hello@everpress.com with your order number and your request/query.

Where does your merchandise come from?
Our merchandise comes from a few different partners, all of whom align with our values of integrity and equality. We have rigorous due diligence processes in place to ensure that suppliers align with our values and humanitarian standards.
We use organic cotton in all our merchandise. This leads to a reduction in soil erosion, less acidification of land and water, and has less impact on global warming. All of our merchandise is 100% GOTs, Oeko Tex, and PETA vegan certified, and we are proudly plastic-free in our operations of merchandise production and fulfillment. We distribute directly from the UK.
For all specific merchandise-related questions, please contact merchandise@choose.love or hello@everpress.com depending on where you ordered from. How else can I get involved
Can I volunteer with Choose Love?
At the moment, the best way you can help is by fundraising for us as this is vital in allowing us to continue the work that we do. We would also be very grateful if you could keep an eye on our social media channels and share any fundraising appeals and petitions that we post.
We are not currently looking for volunteers in the UK but you can stay posted on all our campaigns and receive any requests for volunteering via our mailing list.
My brand or business wants to work with Choose Love - how can I help?
If your company or small business is looking for ways to help by donating brand new physical goods (eg last season’s merch, baby supplies, furniture, food, etc), please drop an email to partnerships@choose.love with your ideas, quantity, and photos (if relevant).
If you want to make a monetary donation but need tax + bank information, please send us an email as well.
If you want to use our logo/branding for an event or product, please send an email to community@choose.love so we can clear this for you.
Are you hiring right now?
For all opportunities please keep an eye out on our social media, and on our jobs page.
I want to do work experience/an internship with Choose Love - what should I do?
Please send your CV to people@choose.love and let us know a little bit about you and what you’re looking for. We can’t guarantee we’ll have something available but if we do, we’ll let you know.
I am conducting research and I would like to speak to someone - how do I get in touch?
We operate through fundraising and grant allocating to smaller grassroots organisations who are able to have a greater impact on the ground. As such, we might not be best placed to answer your questions. Our team is very small and we are responding to a high number of enquiries so unfortunately do not have time to give in depth answers.
Our team does not directly provide medical or technical support; for queries on these topics, we recommend reaching out to an organisation specialising in these areas or taking a look at our partner page here and impact reports on our impact page here.
